Hooch Maids 1

The Hooch Maid series are collage/drawings done from my father's photos taken during the Vietnam war. Hooch Maids were women that cleaned the barracks and often lightened the mood between days of warfare. The women were usually married and used the cleaning to make extra money during the American occupation. Bullet holes and/or barbed wire are common details behind the often goofy or lighthearted poses of the women.

I had been experimenting with a segmented composition to visually represent a fragmented memory within a photograph.
