I am interested in how ideas of home change with our physical surroundings and accumulated memories. In my artwork, symbols of architecture and signage as well as ideas of luck and hope are used to discuss my forever growing and crumbling notions of a homestead.
I recently moved from Las Vegas where The Strip's horizon is a literal collage of architectural styles and influences while its history can be erased on the whim of a millionaire. My collages and mixed media installations reflect these constructions within that landscape and their influence on the people who live and work there.
My drawings on the other hand, discuss a memory of a place and time that is not necessarily true, but one that can be built off of; a structure of reinvention that is imperative when moving on, both emotionally and physically.
