Bearded and Shucked, Mermaid Parade in Joshua Tree 2017
"Bearded and Shucked", 2017-present, a participatory parade and art installation in Joshua Tree with multi-disciplinary artist Aaron Sheppard and other artist participants. After coming up with the idea for moving our favorite Coney Island event to the desert, I reached out to Sheppard to partner, help organize and stage the event. An intimate group walks through the desert and down the Main St. of Joshua Tree dressed in Aquatic themed costumes. Costumes are made together and the mermaid themed art exhibit is installed as a group. The event is held simultaneously to the annual Mermaid Parade in Coney Island during the summer solstice, June 2019 will be the third annual parade/collaboration.
